Meeting Minutes from Dawn for 5.9.06
Hi Everyone..
I apologize in the delay in getting these notes to you (especially those of you who were unable to attend the last meeting).
*Project Cafe, General
We spoke about the concept of Project Cafe and suggested making it a smaller portion of our meeting time. Right now it takes up half of the meeting, which really leaves us no time for discussion about broader topics that we may have questions about (ie: insurance, accounting procedures, etc...) We agreed that it should be shorter and that it would be a good idea that even after the meeting to continue thinking about the project and post any additional ideas on the blog.
*Project Cafe: Elizabeth, Marketing Ideas
Elizabeth's challenge is how to get people to understand the breadth of her services and comprehend that they are all offered as a complete package. How would it be best to showcase these services on her website so that they will be easy for clients to understand? Most were in agreement that it would be best to have a separate website to promote her photography (particularly wedding/portraiture) so as not to confuse potential business clients, nor detract from the photography aspect of her business, which she is very passionate about.
In terms of potential clients and how to find them, some suggestions were: existing businesses that either needed a facelift or were adding a new element to their business, Chamber of Commerce members, referrals, publications (ie: Photo District News)
*Some websites that were mentioned that may be of interest:
www.cherylhoffman.com (Anne's illustrator)
www.myemma.com (web based service that helps you to manage your email mktg)
*Judi: Estate Planning
Judi has an idea that she is working on getting out there into the world of publishing. It is basically a tool that would aid an individual in the preparation and organization of their estate planning. It is an accordian file based system with sections for all pertinent documents (ie: health care proxy, will, power of attorney, etc...) She put the idea out to the group and had a very positive response. The next step is finding a publisher who will work with her to get it out on the market.
*Misc:
Giselle has emailed Judi & I and decided not to continue with the group. She feels that her interests and needs lie in other areas and would like to pursue groups which, at this time, better suit her needs. We wish her luck in her endeavors with her Alzheimer's projects.
Our next meeting is scheduled for June 13
See you then..
