Project Cafe from Anne
Hi all-
So as I mentioned on Tuesday, I'm starting a new company, Fido Says. It is a free online newsletter for pet lovers. Think daily Candy or Urban Baby. Each newsletter will feature a pet related items: fashion & accessories, health/nutritional items, pet friendly travel (locations and accessories) and service companies (groomers, walkers, spas, sitters, etc...)
The money would of course come from the ad dollars - dedicated e-mails, banners, sky skrapers, sponsorships.
I'm partnering with my brother-in-law. He is in finance, and a dog owner.
Since this company is brand new and launching in September, I'd like to get input from all of you in every area: marketing, ad sales, editorial, what to include, what to exclude and any ideas.
Even though the company is named "Fido Says" we will be incorporating items and info about/for cats, birds, fish and other types of pets.
I'm thinking of 2 e-mails a week for the first two months, then 3 a week and then 5 days by January. There will be a website, but it will be just info and archives, similar to Daily Candy - no bulletin boards, no sales.
So that's pretty much it - this is about 10 days old, so if anything happens over the next month I'll fill you in, and please e-mail or post any questions if something isn't clear.

Check out this site for beasty feast. The store is nothing too fancy - but I really like the name and I thought you might be interested in seeing the way they formatted the site. Each area of the site is labeled with a little image of an animal. In this case, the animal is a photo - yours would be a cartoon. But, I think it is a really nice way to organize it. The change I would make would be: if I click the dog, I want the items to be about dogs. I wouldn't want to sort through all the postings to find something about a dog on Fido Says. The way Daily Candy is organized by city - you could organize entries by animal.

although, I don't know how many specific resources there are for bunnies or birds. You will probably find a lot more dog and cat spots. But, this is NY - so whatever there is - it's here.
Are you going to have Fido says by city??? like Daily Candy?
